This is My Creative Process
In the latest episode of Pattern Cognition with Sid Mofya, I share the principles that guide my creative process. Creativity is at the heart of everything I do—whether it’s writing, composing music, creating partnerships, or building businesses. While the mediums differ, the process remains strikingly similar, rooted in intentionality and structure.
Key Principles of My Creative Process:
Separate Ideation from Editing
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to keep ideation and editing distinct. When I’m in the ideation phase, I give myself complete freedom to explore, experiment, and generate ideas without judgment. For example, in writing, I’ll simply write and write without stopping to edit. This unfiltered flow allows creativity to flourish without constraints.Allow Time Between Phases
After the ideation phase, I intentionally leave time before diving into editing. This gap is essential because it allows me to approach the material with fresh eyes and a more objective perspective. Whether refining a piece of writing or shaping a new business concept, this pause ensures that my edits are sharper and more focused.
Why It Matters
The synergy between these two principles enhances both creativity and precision. By separating the imaginative and evaluative phases, I’m able to create with more clarity and purpose. This approach applies universally—whether you’re an artist, entrepreneur, or innovator.
As you listen to this episode, reflect on your own creative habits.
Are you giving yourself the freedom to create without judgment?
Are you building in time to refine with objectivity?
These small adjustments could make a big difference in the quality of your work.

This is my creative process. I'm a creator at heart, so I create music, I write, I create businesses, I create partnerships. And the creative process is very similar across all of these. One of the things I'm very keen about is separating ideation from editing. Um, so for example, with writing, I'll make sure that I write and write and write and write without editing.
Um, and then later on, I'll come and edit because that makes my creative process. Creativity more potent and it makes my editing more focused. So that's one, one real key. And then the other thing is leaving time between the ideation and the editing, because then I can be more objective. What's your approach?
