56 - We Need to Unlearn to Work Effectively with AI
To thrive in an AI-driven world, learning isn’t enough—we must unlearn outdated ways of working. This episode explores how adapting to AI requires a mindset shift, where we become supervisors rather than sole creators. Discover why unlearning is key to future-proofing your career.
We Need to Unlearn to Work Effectively with AI
The rapid advancement of AI is transforming how we work. Many of the skills that once defined expertise are evolving, and to stay relevant, we must shift our mindset—not just by learning, but by unlearning outdated ways of thinking.
In this episode of Pattern Cognition, we explore why unlearning is crucial for navigating AI-driven change. Traditionally, writing and content creation required deep personal expertise. Today, AI can generate drafts, analyze data, and even suggest improvements. Our role is shifting from being sole creators to becoming supervisors—curating, refining, and directing AI-generated content.
This change raises an important challenge: the knowledge we once relied on as an advantage might now slow us down. By clinging to old methods, we risk falling behind. Instead, we must embrace adaptability, reassess long-held beliefs, and refine how we engage with technology.
The quality bar for work has never been higher. AI isn’t replacing human creativity—it’s enhancing it. But only those willing to rethink their approach will fully harness its potential.
Are you ready to unlearn and embrace the future? Tune in to this thought-provoking episode to discover how.

As we get disrupted by AI, lots of change happening very quickly. How do I, as a non tech person, think about how to adapt to this fast change that is happening right now to the world of work? The first thing I think is about unlearning. In order to learn the new skills that I need to learn for the next year, two years, I need to unlearn some things that were obvious and were valuable knowledge from.
For example, in the previous world, all my writing came from my head. In the new world, I act more as a supervisor of the AI that is helping me to write. And that's how most people on the internet are writing. And it's a different skill, and the quality bar is even higher for how you write. So unlearning is important.
