The Three Types of Networkers in Business

Welcome to another episode of Pattern Cognition with Sid Mofya, where we explore thought-provoking ideas to empower leaders, entrepreneurs, and dreamers. Today, we delve into the art of networking and uncover the three types of networkers in business: the grafter, the gifted, and the genius.

The Grafter: Quantity Over Quality

Grafters are relentless. They’re the ones handing out business cards at every opportunity, attending every event, and chasing connections. While their hustle is admirable, this approach often leads to burnout and shallow relationships. For grafters, the focus is on quantity, not necessarily quality.

The Gifted: Quality Relationships Matter

The gifted networker takes a more strategic approach, seeking meaningful, impactful connections. They invest time in building trust and understanding, ensuring their relationships are authentic and mutually beneficial. This level of networking often results in deeper, long-lasting partnerships.

The Genius: Scaling Connection

Finally, there’s the genius—a master networker who blends the best of both worlds. They’ve found a way to scale their impact by creating environments where people come to them. Whether through thought leadership, content creation, or fostering communities, geniuses build ecosystems that naturally attract connections.

Why It Matters

Understanding these types of networkers helps you evaluate your own approach and refine your strategy for building impactful connections. Whether you’re just starting or aiming to scale your network, there’s always room to evolve and grow.

Key Takeaways:

  • Grafters: Hustle hard but risk burnout.

  • Gifted: Prioritize meaningful relationships over volume.

  • Geniuses: Create systems that attract connections and scale relationships.

Take a moment to reflect: Which type of networker are you? Listen to this episode for actionable insights on how to transform your networking style into a superpower.

There are three kinds of networker, and I write about this. One is the grafter, one is the gifted, and the third is the genius. The grafter is all about quantity. They put out as many business cards as possible, they often burn out. The gifted starts to focus more on quality, meaningful relationships. The genius is the person who can scale that because now they find a way to get people to come to them.
